On Thursday, Sept. 17, Pelicans owner Quint Studer, Pensacola Mayor Mike Wiggins, and several city, county, community, and development group representatives officially broke the ground of the Vince Whibb’s Sr. Community Maritime Park. The 30 acre, $ 40 million site includes a UWF conference center and classrooms, free access to the water, a state-of-the-art maritime museum, and a multi-use stadium – future home of the Pelicans.
More than 300 people gathered at the construction site for an hour long ceremony.
Construction begins on Friday, Sept. 18 with a construction fence being installed around the site and site clearing and ground work.
The Pelicans would like to thank all the sponsors, season ticket holders, and fans who were in attendance and who have supported the project over the years.
